Anson Engine Museum

Anson Engine Museum tells the story of the engine that changed the world. From the canon to the fuel efficient engines of the future.

This volunteer run museum is “run on a shoestring and fueled by enthusiasm” and has established an enviable reputation as an award winning attraction in Cheshire’s Peak District.

With over 250 engines, from desktop to 100 tons (including several steam engines) several of which run every day the museum is open, the museum literally comes to life.

Additional exhibits are gant model of area c1900, monthly craft demonstrations and a bursting calendar of special events.

  • Engines running every day the museum is open, additionally steam engines every month, check website for dates
  • We recommend you leave at least 2 hours for your visit – there is so much to see
  • Will open outside normal dates and times for pre-booked tours & groups
  • Ample room for wheelchair access throughout, wide doorways and a one-level floor surface. Toilets available
  • Wheelchair and mobility scooter available for guests, please telephone in advance to book for your visit
