Keith Harding’s World of Mechanical Music is a superb selection of instruments, all in superb condition, presented as live entertainment by informative guides.

Keith Hardings World of Mechanical Music - Offbeat AttractionsThe World of Mechanical Music is a living museum of the extraordinary variety of self-playing (mechanical) musical instruments and automata.

All the instruments are maintained in the most perfect possible order in the world-famous workshops on the premises, and introduced and played by the well informed guides in the form of a live entertainment.

Listen to Grieg, Paderewski, Rachmaninov and Gerschwin giving concert performances of their own compositions, ‘live” on reproducing pianos, in the intimacy of the Victorian music room.

Savour the decadence of “Cabaret” with a performance on the 1920s Berlin café piano. Hear the latest in “hi-fi” from the 1930s on the enormous E.M.G. handmade gramophone.

All guests are welcome, of any age. School parties and group tours can be arranged. All areas are accessible to wheelchairs, and there are special facilities for people with disabilities.

A trip to Keith Harding’s World of Mechanical Music is definitely recommended if you enjoy the more unusual museums. The collection is amazing and if you can catch a demonstration it really is something. We’d recommend allowing at least 2 hours to tour the museum.
